Tryin' to Get to You fue escrita por Rose Marie McCoy y Charles Singleton y, originalmente grabada en Washington por el grupo The Eagles en 1954 para el sello Mercury Records.


En 1955 la grabó Elvis Presley, de la que llegó a grabar 5 versiones, la primera en marzo de 1955.



Roy Orbison la grabó en 1956 con The Teen Kings, curiosamente, el lado B del single era Ooby Dooby.




Igualmente, Johnny Carrol, en 1956 hizo su propia versión del tema.




También de 1956, es la versión de Ricky Nelson




En cuanto a revival, entre los que han vuelto a grabarla se encuentran:
